When it comes to choosing skincare, the variety that’s available can leave you with choice paralysis. Walking into a department store, searching online or even in a clinic, spa or salon can be a daunting experience. Each brand competes against the next, promising the results that you want to hear, from highly perfumed, to natural/raw and then fragrance-free, how on earth do you choose?

Each brand has its own agenda, ethos, system delivery and ‘matchy-matchy’ product lines… it’s impossible!

Whilst I don’t promise the answer, and can’t deliver THE ONE RANGE that will just work miracles for you, I can offer some pretty solid advice. Topical skincare works on the first layer of your skin called the epidermis. There are 5 individual layers to the epidermis. When you are cleansing, exfoliating, masking and moisturising the skin, your skincare is targeting the epidermis.

The magic actually happens in the dermis. The dermis produces hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin which are all responsible for keeping your skin supple, tight and bouncy, qualities that we lose as we age because our bodies don’t deliver those substances in the same amounts that they once did.

In fact, collagen production pretty much stops in the mid-20s!

Agghhhhh!

One thing is certain though, we are continually ageing, and the best way to help prevent that is to maintain your skin’s health.

What is a skin booster treatment

How?

Well, let’s talk basics first. Always cleanse/wash your skin to remove the debris from the day. Even if you don’t wear make-up, I can guarantee you will touch your face regularly. Use soap-free products, so as to maintain the balance of your skin, and avoid products containing alcohol that will dry it out.

Always apply SPF, preferably factor 50, as even if the sun isn’t shining, the rays are still the number one cause of skin ageing. If you want a tan… fake it.

With so many options out there, applying a daily tanner gives a natural result is easy.

For best results moisturise first, and then use a high-quality SPF50, and don’t forget to reapply throughout the day during peak sunlight!

There are many moisturisers with SPF included, and not to get too picky, but it’s a fact that the chemicals in an SPF don’t blend well with your moisturisers, so it is always best to keep them separate.

Effectiveness of skin boosters

So how do we get to the ‘magical dermal layer’?

Skin boosters, that’s how!

If you are in search of that ‘ omg your skin looks amazing’ look …. then here we are! Although hard to quantify this change in a ‘before and after’, what happens is that skin boosters work by injecting deep down to the dermis those moisturisers you need for the best skin glow around!

For results that your friends can’t quite put their fingers on, you’ll find that the results are deep down and from the inside out.

In clinic, we have two options for skin boosters. Profilo and Hydro Deluxe. These skin boosters are injectable moisturisers that revitalise, smooth and improve skin texture, slowing down ageing.

Wowee! And that’s without any over-complicated skincare, a course of facials or fillers!

These skin boosters can be injected into the face, neck, décolleté, arms and hands, with minimal discomfort. Using numbing cream and ice, this little procedure may leave you a little flushed, with a few very temporary lumps and bumps that quickly subside, with results that can be seen four weeks later when you attend your follow-up session.

If you have great skin already or perhaps have had skin boosters before, the results are likely to be even better. Whilst 2 skin booster sessions 4 weeks apart will leave you with an awesome glow, repeating these sessions 3 times a year will give optimal results. Treatments start at £325 per session, but if you have a 360 membership with me you will qualify for a preferred rate, so ask me for more details about this particular saving.

So, if when driving you notice the back of your hands are a little dry and dare I say a little more wrinkly than they used to be, a skin booster will bring back their youth! If your face is looking lacklustre and your skin needs some va va voom… a skin booster is going to make that difference, the kind of difference that people can’t quite put their finger on, the kind of glow that a restful holiday brings.

To put this into context, skin boosters deliver results that skin care, facials, micro-needling and chemical peels just can’t. If you want to make one very simple, effective and long-lasting skincare investment, then go for a skin booster. We can discuss in clinic whether to go for Profilo which has the highest concentration of Hyaluronic Acid or Hydro Deluxe which helps to produce collagen type 3. Either of these skin boosters will leave your skin with a hydration level unsurpassed by skincare and facials.

Skin boosters are one simple decision that gives long-lasting results when you maintain your sessions!
