Regenerative Medicine – Time to Invest?

DermaFocus is a regenerative aesthetics training and distribution company, specialising in distributing evidence-based regenerative aesthetic products.

If you’ve attended any conference lately, you’ll know ‘regenerative’ is the buzzword of the aesthetics world. In late 2022, leading industry event CCR accurately predicted in its Trends Report that polynucleotides in particular were set to ‘make an impact’, while cosmetic insurance provider Hamilton Fraser found in its early 2024 survey that 64.1% of aesthetic medical professionals were interested in regenerative treatments thanks to its promise to ‘transform skin from within’.

Elsewhere, chair of the British Association of Aesthetic Nurses (BACN) and DermaFocus faculty member Sharon Bennett highlighted that ‘regenerative medicine is reshaping the aesthetic landscape, offering innovative solutions that extend beyond solely cosmetic enhancements’.

Yet while regenerative techniques have been used in general medicine for some time, it’s only in the last few years that they’ve made their way into aesthetics.

What is regenerative medicine?

Simply put, regenerative medicine focuses on the repair, replacement or regeneration of cells, tissues or organs to restore impaired function resulting from disease, trauma or ageing.

Instead of treating patients’ symptoms, regenerative technology allows practitioners to get right to the source and tackle the cause of concern by stimulating aged and damaged cells to ‘regenerate’. In terms of aesthetics, this leads to improvements to the condition, look and feel of skin and hair.

It also offers an alternative to traditional treatments that have focused on masking signs of ageing through tools such as dermal fillers and botulinum toxin.

What regenerative aesthetic treatments are available?

Multiple regenerative treatment options are available – some have been around for longer, such as stem cells, growth factors and platelet-rich plasma, while newer options include the use of exosomes and polynucleotides. Because they use natural, purified ingredients, the risk of complications associated with regenerative treatments is extremely low, making them a safe and popular choice amongst patients.

Here at DermaFocus, we have been one of the first companies to introduce polynucleotides to the UK market. Our award-winning PLINEST® range (manufactured by regenerative experts at Mastelli) uses highly-purified polynucleotide technology, known as PN-HPT®, to tackle multiple skin concerns that include fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, skin laxity, acne scarring and rosacea.

We also supply PLINEST® Hair to tackle thin and damaged hair, while PLINEST® Eyes has a more gentle formulation to treat delicate eye areas.

Introducing regenerative treatments to your aesthetics clinic

As awareness of regenerative techniques begins to build amongst patients, demand will soar. Choosing products that have exceptional clinical research behind them, as well as a team of professionals on hand to help you successfully integrate products into your clinic, is absolutely essential for success.

DermaFocus has chosen to distribute PLINEST® specifically because of its proven track record in delivering impressive results. Our clinical trainers and Clinic Support Partners have years of experience and expertise in regenerative treatments, enabling them to give you all the help you need as you start your journey with us.
