UK-based skincare, aesthetic and medical device innovator iSMART Developments Ltd has announced a strategic partnership with L’Oréal Groupe, marking a significant milestone in the company’s long-term growth and leadership within the professional-grade light therapy sector.
The collaboration brings together iSMART’s advanced LED engineering, innovation capabilities and regulatory expertise with L’Oréal Groupe’s global scale, scientific infrastructure and longstanding commitment to cutting-edge skincare research.
As part of the partnership, iSMART has worked alongside L’Oréal to develop a first-of-its-kind LED Face Mask and LED Eye Mask. Designed using ultra-thin, flexible silicone, the devices deliver professional-grade light therapy directly to the full face and delicate under-eye area. Lightweight, portable and non-invasive, the masks are intended to integrate seamlessly into daily skincare routines while delivering precise, clinically engineered light wavelengths.
The technology utilises two selected wavelengths:
Red light (630 nm), which stimulates collagen and elastin to visibly firm and smooth the skin
Near-infrared light (830 nm), which penetrates deeper to help reduce puffiness and boost circulation
This strategic alignment further reinforces iSMART’s position as a trusted development and manufacturing partner to some of the world’s most influential beauty and dermatology brands. It also highlights the growing role of clinically engineered LED technology in the future of skin health and longevity-focused solutions.
Sue D’Arcy, CEO and Founder of iSMART Developments, said:
“This partnership with L’Oréal Groupe represents a powerful validation of iSMART’s technology, team and long-term vision. We have spent over two decades building deep expertise in LED phototherapy, regulatory excellence and scalable innovation. Working alongside a global leader such as L’Oréal Groupe allows us to accelerate the impact of clinically engineered light-based solutions on a truly international stage. We see this as a significant step forward not only for iSMART, but for the wider evolution of science led, professional grade skin technologies.”
Looking ahead, the partnership will focus on the development and manufacture of next-generation LED phototherapy devices. Initial activity will centre on the full facial category, with plans to expand across multiple LED-enabled skincare applications within a defined product platform.
The agreement covers global markets, and the collaboration has already been showcased as part of the wider innovation landscape at CES 2026, reflecting the continued momentum behind LED-powered skin technologies within the professional and consumer skincare space.
