On 6 April new legislation extended protection from redundancy from those on maternity leave to include the period from pregnancy to up to 18 months after birth. Then, in October 2024, the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 is expected to come into force, which introduces a new duty on employers to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment – including policies, training and investigation of allegations.
