Introduction
Our 2022 Summer edition focuses on dermal fillers and, as one of the mainstay treatments underpinning aesthetic practice, there’s a lot to explore. In April, the Health and Care Bill received Royal Assent. Within it was a commitment to creating a licensing scheme for cosmetic procedures, which means dermal fillers will have to be done by licenced practitioners on licenced premises. Executive chair and registrar of the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP), Professor David Sines, shares his views and outlines the JCCP’s proposal for the licensing regime. We also examine delayed onset nodules and delayed onset reactions as part of our CPD article written by Dr Martyn King, chair of the Aesthetic Complications Expert Group (ACE Group World) and explore the latest trend in ultrasound scanning to enhance filler safety. Add to that articles from Dr Patrick Treacy, Dean Rhobaye, Mr Daniel Ezra, plus a delve into how to reduce your carbon footprint to name a few, you’ve got yourself one heck of an issue to get your teeth into!
