Through a series of laser treatments, we can help reduce the appearance of dark patches of pigmentation and create a more even skin tone. Known as hyperpigmentation or skin pigmentation, dark patches on your face and body can really bother some people. They occur largely as a result of sun damage, which is why daily use of sunscreen is so important to avoid them getting worse or more appearing. UV rays from the skin trigger the production of melanin, which is why we tan. If you have too much sun exposure, then it can lead to excessive production of melanin known as hyperpigmentation. People often describe dark patches as ‘sun spots’ or ‘age spots’, and they generally appear on areas most exposed to the sun such as the face, neck, décolletage and hands.
