Do you really need to use SPF in Winter?

A common misconception regarding SPF is that it is only needed in the summer months. However, it is just as essential to be applying it throughout winter. The key to looking younger for longer and achieving good skin health is, in fact, using SPF 365 days a year.

UV rays are present all day, every day throughout the year, no matter the time of day, weather, or season.

Up to 80% of the sun's rays can penetrate through clouds, so even on those winter days, we don’t think we need SPF; we absolutely do!

Over time, exposure to UV rays can lead to your skin ageing much quicker than it naturally would.

Lines, wrinkles, texture and pigmentation, are common problems of regular sun exposure.

In some cases, UV rays can cause more severe conditions such as skin cancers.

Therefore taking care of your skin all year round couldn’t be more important. Using SPF daily can help you look younger for longer and protect your skin from any harmful damage.

In fact, a study has shown that daily use of SPF can slow the ageing process by a huge 24%!

Still don’t believe us? This is an image of a truck driver with severe skin damage due to spending 28 years on the road.

His skin was exposed to UVA radiation almost every day through the window of his truck on the driver's side, resulting in half of his face ageing significantly more than the other.

Everyday moisturisers and BB creams don’t always include a high enough SPF to protect you from both UVA and UVB rays so we suggest the best way to protect your skin is to use a broad-spectrum SPF every day.

The easiest way to do this is to make SPF part of your daily skincare routine so you don’t forget. It will soon become a habit!

So don’t forget to protect your skin this winter.
