Answer: Hi Belinda,
Thanks for your question.
There are 3 common methods for removing skin tags, these are:
1. Advanced Electrocautery (Diathermy)
A fine probe delivers a small electrical current to dry out the skin tag at the base. It then either drops off or is removed during treatment.
Considerations:
Quick and precise
Minimal discomfort (numbing cream can be applied)
Usually no scarring
2. Cryotherapy (Freezing)
This involves applying a controlled spray of liquid nitrogen to freeze the skin tag. It typically shrivels and falls off over a few days.
Considerations:
Best for smaller skin tags
May require more than one session
Minimal downtime
3. Surgical Removal (Snip Excision)
Considerations:
For larger or more stubborn tags, we use a sterile blade or scissors to snip the tag off, often after applying a local anaesthetic.
Instant removal
Great for tags in tricky areas
Small dressing may be needed afterwards
Costs vary depending on how many tags you are looking to remove. Please contact us via our profile should you wish to book a free consultation to enable us to assess and advise the best treatment plan.
Kind regards,
ERA Team
