What to expect:

This is a service specialising in non-surgical hair restoration. This means that depending on the reason for the hair loss a variety of approaches will be taken to restore your hair or slow down the progression of hair. These methods include advising on medications, nutritional or supplement changes, how to seek further assistance from your GP to obtain further investigations and when a referral to a dermatologist is needed for biopsy of the scalp or for more potent medications. The clinic supplies wigs and hair pieces and wig care products. Advice on cosmetically camouflaging hair loss is also available if required.
Treatments such as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) are available at the clinic. You will be advised as to whether these are suitable for your type of hair loss.
If you would like the additional option of obtaining formal measurements of your hair growth or loss the TrichoLab report is also available.

The approach:

Hair loss can be temporary and reversible or scarring (permanent). It can be caused for a variety of reasons including stress, nutrition, lifestyle, health issues, genetic and hair care practices.
The approach to treatment is to offer evidence based advice and treatment recommendations. Where this is not available, the approach will be guided by the approach taken by reputable organisations.
The initial consultation will be virtual.

Before the consultation:

It is essential to have good quality photographs of your hair loss/scalp condition before the consultation particularly if the initial consultation is virtual. Due to Covid-19 the initial consultation is encouraged to be virtual, and this can be followed up by a shorter face to face examination at no extra charge.

Before the consultation a Pre- consultation questionnaire is sent. It is helpful if this is completed before the consultation as this helps to make use of the time available.
If you are able to obtain a Summary Printout from GP via email which includes the results of recent blood tests that would be ideal. You are entitled to this information free of charge under the General Data Protection regulations .

During the initial consultation:

You will be asked for your date of birth and address. Please be prepared to show photographic proof of identification and proof of address in case a prescription needs to be created. 30 – 60 minutes will be spent finding out about your hair loss/scalp concern, its effect on you, your past medical history, medication history, hair care practices history, family history, nutrition and lifestyle.
At the end of the consultation you will be given a verbal opinion of the condition and recommendations as to what needs to be done next. This could include:
• Suggested blood tests to discuss with GP (These can be arranged privately if needed)
• If there is a possibility of a scarring form of hair loss a referral to a dermatologist will be recommended
• If additional imaging is desired a TrichoLab report can be arranged. This needs to be done face to face.
• If the condition indicates that you might benefit from having a TrichoTest which gives personalised recommendations for some of the medications and supplements related to hair loss, I will suggest it
In the majority of cases a face to face examination is not always necessary – but there will be some occasions where I recommend a face to face examination so that I can examine the hair and scalp in more detail.

You will be emailed a written summary of the consultation by email within 7 days.

After the consultation:

If you would like to explore further services such as cosmetic camouflage, wigs and hair pieces, you are welcome to do so. A complementary 15 -30 minute face to face or virtual follow up appointment within 2-4 weeks to discuss any further issues, and then between 6-12 months after the appointment to monitor your progress is included.
The follow up appointment link is emailed after the consultation (Please ignore the £1 payment as it was not possible to put a zero to book the appointment)
