Viscoderm® is referred to as a “skin booster” product line for intradermal use. It is manufactured by IBSA Farmaceutici Italia and distributed in the UK & Ireland by HA-Derma Ltd. It helps restore the support structures of skin tissue, resulting in increased tone, elasticity and firmness. The treatment areas coincide with all areas of skin affected by the ageing process. The indications for Viscoderm products vary from facial treatments to specific areas of the body.


Generic name

Pure non-cross-linked, non-animal hyaluronic acid.


What does it contain?

A non-chemically modified, ultrapure hyaluronic acid available in 3 different concentrations.


How is it made?

IBSA’s hyaluronic acid is an ultrapure grade hyaluronic acid, produced through a patented bio-fermentation process, of Streptococcus Zooepidemicus, which ranks worldwide as “top quality” in terms of purity, safety and its high resistance to thermal production processes.


Is a skin test required before treatment?

No allergy test needed


Is it temporary or permanent?

Hyaluronic acid is completely broken down within the skin leaving no trace.

Should be used by

Trained members of the medical profession only. Viscoderm can be injected with all traditional techniques with the use of 30G needle. There is a different injection depth for each concentration.


Product range

There are 3 different formulations for Viscoderm® available which include:

Viscoderm 0.8 Viscoderm 1.6 Viscoderm 2.0
Viscoderm® 0.8% (1 x 1ml) - 8mg of hyaluronic acid in 1ml – indicated for particularly thin, delicate skin areas and for prevention treatment.

Viscoderm® 1.6% (1 x 1ml) - 16mg of hyaluronic acid in 1ml – indicated for biostimulation treatments of the face, neck, decollete and hands for prevention, restructuring and maintenance.

Viscoderm® 2.0% (1 x 1ml) – 20mg of hyaluronic acid in 1ml – indicated for dermal restructuring treatments in areas with thick skin and to obtain a filler effect in some wrinkle types.

All products come also in bigger syringes for larger areas or body use.


Not to be used in

Individuals with a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid. Pregnant or breast feeding.


Duration of effect

The effects are cumulative. As the product is not a dermal filler, there is no longevity data on single treatments alone.


Reported side effects

Transient erythema (redness), swelling, pain, itching, discolouration or tenderness at the implant site.


Costs

This depends on the area treated and how much is required, and the practitioner doing the treatment, but price ranges are in the region of £150+ per treatment.
