Question: Suitability

I am interested in Morpheus 8 and laser treatments. I don’t want to waste anyone‘s time so my question is this. I had prostate. cancer 7 years ago but had it removed and am now cancer free. Would that prevent me from M8 or laser treatment.

Answer: Hi Gerard,

Glad to hear you are doing well now!

This wont be a contraindication to treatment, however, the doctor would still need to go through your full medical history to ensure you are a suitable candidate.

Best wishes,

Answer: Hi Gerard,

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately, we do not offer the m8 treatment here, what other laser treatments would you be interested in?
If you could please confirm if you are still taking any medication, as this may affect suitability for treatments.
Kind regards,

Thank you for contacting us via Consulting Room.

You can have laser treatments and Morpheus 8 once you reach the 5 years clear mark. At Nakedhealth Clinic, we have a different system called Endymed to deliver radiofrequency combined with micro-needling. For more information, please have a look at our website.

Please, book a skincare consultation so we can discuss your concerns and set up a tailored treatment plan for you. You can book online or call our clinic.

Answer: Dear Gerard,

Thank you for your question. Most pre-medical questionnaires for energy based devices will ask whether a patient has a history of cancer or family history of cancer. Skin cancer in my opinion would be a complete contraindication to treatment with laser, IPL, Morpheus or in my clinic Venus Versa. However, with assessment and discussion it would be possible for a patient who has been clear of cancer e.g prostate or bowel for greater than 5 years to have treatment with an energy based device. There is a very slight increased risk of cancer but this is theoretical. There are no studies to support a clear link or confidently disprove the link between energy based devices and developing cancer and therefore most practitioners would be unwilling to take the risk. My recommendation would be to consider alternatives such as peels, skin boosters and dermal fillers. Dr S Dhesi
