Question: Hooded eyes.

I have had Botox from another provider just before Xmas which has caused my eyelids to appear hooded.
I gather I just need to wait 3-4 months for the symptoms to wear off.
If I were to have it done again, Is
There any guarantee it won’t happen again?
Would you also be able to let me know a price please if I decide to go ahead.
Many thanks
Jane

Answer: Good Morning, you can email us (our contact details can be found on our clinic profile) and we can advise on prices. I can answer your other question now, there is no guarantee, however if the practitioner is aware this has happened previously, they can do their best to avoid it.

Answer: Dear Jane, it is very difficult to comment without an assessment. The 3 major causes of hooded eyelids after Botox are: high dose, low placement of the toxin or anatomically ( how your muscle, bone is ) you are not a good candidate for toxin on the forehead. Therefore without an through assessment no one would be able to say if you are able to have the treatment without complications. I hope this is helpful. If you wish to discuss this in person the best way is to book in for a consultation. Kind regards, Dr Raquel Amado

Answer: Hi Jane,

The only muscle that raises your eyebrows is the frontalis muscle which is where we inject when trying to improve forehead wrinkles.

There are some people who have slightly hooded eyebrows for whom this is a tricky thing to do and it is always a risk. It is difficult to advise completely without seeing your face but in theory it is completely preventable with a higher injection pattern.

To discuss improving it would be best to book an online consultation (for which there is no charge) but clicking through to the website through the link in my profile. The. I can have a look and advise you more accurately.

I hope this helps.

Rebecca

Answer: Hi Jane,

Thank you for the question. Yes unfortunately you will have to wait for it wear off.

Depending on age and the degree of hooding injection and dosage has to be adjusted to reflect the anatomy.

There is never a guarantee that it won’t happen again. But there are ways to minimise it.

Our prices range from £250 to £350 for wrinkle relaxing injections.

Please contact us via our profile as we are not allowed to share numbers or emails here.

Warm regards

Dr Dhesi

Answer: Hi Jane. Sorry this has happened to you. Yes best advice is to give it time to wear off. Certain people will be more prone to having this happen. The trick is good assessment before treatment to avoid this happening. I would be happy to see you for a consultation once the treatment has worn off to discuss this. Hopefully we can put a treatment plan together to give you an acceptable outcome without the hooded eyes. My toxin treatment are £190/230/290 depending on what we do. My contact details are in my clinic bio. I am based in High Wycombe x

Dr Anna Hemming

Thames Skin Clinic

17th February 2025

Answer: Dear Janerp

Thank you for your email.
I am sorry to hear you experienced hooding to the eyebrows with botox treatment.
While there is no guarantee that hooding will not occur, Dr Anna would examine your muscle activity and plan your treatment accordingly.
Hooding can be linked to muscle position, laxity of the brows causing the muscles to be active when they appear to be resting, botox dose and positioning and spread. It can also be linked to activities undertaken after treatment.
Dr Anna would assess your skin before going ahead and would be very mindful in her treatment to mitigate hooding as best she can.

The costs of botox at Thames Skin Clinic with Dr Anna starts at £300 and increases depending on the areas of treatment.

Please do let us know if you would like our help when your botox treatment starts to loosen and muscle activity increases.

With best wishes
Anna

Answer: Hi - thanks for your enquiry. It would be really good to meet with you in person to assess your current treatment and then I am best to advise you. Yes you’re right about needing to wait 13 weeks for it to wear off before you can retreat. I think it happening again would be dependent upon the dose used and your assessment. It’s a fine balance and sometimes even not treating the forehead is the only option. If you did book in to see me for an assessment then your £50 booking deposit can be put on hold until you later require treatment - how does this sound? Sarah x

Answer: Hi Jane,

There is nearly always a way to avoid this. It is all down to the exact placement of the Botox in the frontalis (forehead) muscle. If you came to me for a free consultation I can assess you properly and give you an honest answer. An experienced aesthetic doctor can avoid this happening. You can book a free new patient consultation on our clinic profile

Thanks

Clinical Director Amanda Pierce

Amanda Pierce Aesthetics

17th February 2025

Answer: Hi Jane
I’m sorry to hear that but be reassured that it will wear off. There are never any guarantees but usually with the right questions about your previous treatment, there are ways to avoid this happening again. Hooded eyes usually come from Botox in the forehead pushing down too much. Different placement of the Botox and starting with a smaller dose usually combat this with a review booked at 2-4 weeks to increase carefully if necessary. Prices for 1 area is £190 (this would be just frown lines, which often creates just lift with no risk of hooding), 2 areas is £290 if the forehead is included. I hope that helps. Please let me know if you need any further information.
Kind regards

Amanda
