Oxygenetix

Oxygenetix - Oxygenating Hydro-Matrix

A good moisturiser should hydrate the skin without sitting heavily on it, clogging pores, or leaving a residue that makes makeup application harder. The Oxygenetix Oxygenating Hydro-Matrix was developed with exactly that balance in mind. Originally used in clinical settings after laser procedures, it's now widely used as a daily moisturiser by people who need something gentle, hydrating, and fully compatible with the Oxygenating Foundation.

It can be used alone, as a base before makeup, or mixed with the foundation itself for a lighter, more luminous finish.

  • Suited to all skin types, including sensitive, post-procedure, and mature skin
  • Provides fast-absorbing hydration without heaviness or greasiness
  • Supports the skin's barrier and repair process through the Ceravitae Complex
  • Ideal as a prep step before Oxygenetix foundation or as a standalone daily moisturiser
  • Fragrance-free, paraben-free, oil-free, vegan, and cruelty-free

What Is It?

The Oxygenating Hydro-Matrix is a lightweight, aloe-based daily moisturiser that shares the same breathable Ceravitae Complex found across the Oxygenetix range. Unlike moisturisers that sink into the skin or dry to leave a barrier over the surface, this formula forms a breathable second skin layer that doesn't block the vital flow of oxygen from reaching the epidermis

It was originally developed for use following laser resurfacing and other aesthetic procedures, where the skin needs soothing, hydration, and support without the risk of irritation from conventional moisturiser ingredients. It has since become a daily skincare staple for people who use Oxygenetix foundation, and it works particularly well as a pre-makeup prep step or as a mixing medium with the foundation for a sheerer, tinted finish.

It's suitable for all skin types and is fragrance-free, paraben-free, and non-comedogenic.

How To Use It

  1. Cleanse skin thoroughly and pat dry
  2. Apply a small amount with clean fingertips, smoothing over the face, neck, and body as needed
  3. Allow to absorb before applying Oxygenetix foundation or other makeup
  4. Alternatively, mix a small amount with the Oxygenating Foundation directly for a lighter, tinted finish
  5. Can be used alone as a daily moisturiser without foundation over it

For post-procedure use, apply as directed by your treating practitioner.

Whats In It?

Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) gel forms the base of the formula. Well established for its soothing, anti-inflammatory, and hydrating properties, it helps calm irritated or sensitised skin, reduces redness, and provides lightweight moisture without adding oil to the surface.

Sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid). Sodium hyaluronate lubricates the skin to plump up fine lines and wrinkles and provides a youthful fullness. As a humectant, it draws moisture to the skin's upper layers and helps maintain hydration throughout the day.

Sodium PCA is a naturally occurring humectant found in the skin's own moisture-retaining system. The combination of sodium PCA and hyaluronic acid delivers intense moisturisation to normal, dry, and compromised skin.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast) extract (Ceravitae Complex), The Oxygenetix patented peptide complex. Supports oxygen uptake at the skin's surface, promotes collagen production, and assists the skin's natural renewal process.

Vitis vinifera (grape seed) extract is an antioxidant that helps protect the skin from free radicals and environmental damage during wear.

Tocopherols (vitamin E) Support skin repair and provide additional antioxidant protection alongside the grape seed extract.

Salix alba (willow bark) extract: A naturally derived ingredient with mild anti-inflammatory properties, supporting comfort for sensitive or reactive skin.

Camellia sinensis (green tea) extract provides further antioxidant protection and helps soothe the skin.

The formula is fragrance-free, paraben-free, oil-free, vegan, and cruelty-free.

Why We Recommend It

The Hydro-Matrix's strongest quality is its compatibility. Most moisturisers, however good, create some degree of friction when layered under full-coverage foundation. The Hydro-Matrix was specifically designed to sit seamlessly beneath Oxygenetix foundation, and that shows in use: it absorbs quickly, leaves no greasy residue, and doesn't interfere with how the foundation blends or wears.

Its clinical origin also matters. It was developed to replenish moisture loss following aggressive treatments and to soothe burning sensations from laser or other more aggressive treatments, which means its formulation was tested against some of the most reactive skin conditions a moisturiser could encounter. For everyday use, that translates into a product that's genuinely unlikely to cause irritation.

The option to mix it with the foundation is a practical and underused benefit. For days when full coverage isn't needed, or for a more natural finish, the combination gives a lightweight, tinted result without the need for a separate tinted moisturiser.

What To Expect

On application, the formula feels lightweight and absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy or tacky surface. It provides immediate comfort to dry or sensitised skin and creates a smooth, even base for foundation.

With regular use, the combination of hyaluronic acid, sodium PCA, and antioxidant ingredients supports the skin's moisture levels and overall condition over time. It doesn't provide the targeted active benefits of the Pore Clarifying variant (which contains salicylic acid), so if oil control or congestion is a priority, that product may be the more relevant choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this suitable for use immediately after a procedure?
Yes. The Hydro-Matrix was originally developed for exactly this purpose, including after CO2 laser resurfacing, chemical peels, and microneedling. Its breathable formula is designed not to interfere with healing. Always follow your treating practitioner's guidance on post-procedure skincare timing.
Can I mix this with the Oxygenating Foundation?
Yes, and it's a genuinely useful option. Mixing a small amount of the Hydro-Matrix with the foundation before application produces a sheerer, more luminous finish. It's a practical way to adjust coverage on days when full foundation isn't needed, without switching to a separate product.
How does this differ from the Pore Clarifying Hydro-Matrix?
The Oxygenating Hydro-Matrix is the original, broader-use formula. It focuses on hydration, barrier support, and skin comfort, and is suited to all skin types including dry, sensitive, mature, and post-procedure skin. The Pore Clarifying Hydro-Matrix adds 2% salicylic acid, making it a targeted option for oily, congestion-prone, or acne-affected skin. If your skin is not oily and you're not managing active breakouts, this original version is the more appropriate choice.
Is it suitable for mature or dry skin?
Yes. The combination of hyaluronic acid and sodium PCA provides meaningful hydration for drier skin types, and the aloe vera base is soothing rather than stimulating. It won't provide the richer, occlusive feel of a cream designed specifically for very dry skin, but for daily use it works well across a broad range of skin types.
Can it be used on the body as well as the face?
Yes. It can be applied to the face, neck, and body. This is particularly relevant post-procedure, where skin beyond the face may also need soothing and support.
