“These treatments have taken 10 years off me, but now bus drivers think I’m too young for my Freedom Pass”

Changes in skin texture, firmness and facial contours are a natural part of ageing, but there are a growing number of non-surgical aesthetic treatments available for people looking to address these concerns. TV presenter Anthea Turner recently spoke about her experience of Focus Dual, a treatment combining radiofrequency microneedling and high-intensity focused ultrasound, after seeking advice about loose skin around her neck and jawline.

Anthea chose a gradual approach, prioritising skin quality and maintaining facial volume rather than pursuing a dramatic change in appearance. She has since described her experience, including the treatment process, recovery time and results she believes she has achieved.

The following article shares Anthea’s personal experience. Individual results vary, and anyone considering an aesthetic treatment should seek advice from a suitably qualified practitioner about its suitability, risks, costs and realistic outcomes.

Anthea Turner’s Focus Dual Results: Skin Firmness and Recovery

“Since having these aesthetic treatments there have been quite a few occasions when I try to use my Freedom Pass and the bus driver asks, “You’re not, are you?” and I have to persuade them that I am indeed 66 years old!”

Anthea laughs about the unanticipated consequences of having signed up for a series of six-monthly Focus Dual treatments, one of the most advanced facial rejuvenation treatments on the market. The system uses the latest micro-needling and radio frequency technology to significantly boost the youthful appearance of skin.

Anthea Turner on Loose Skin and Changes to Her Jawline

Prior to having the treatments, Anthea admitted that she was starting to feel less confident about her appearance and was particularly conscious of loose skin on her neck and jawline.

Anthea revealed: “I think you get to an age where you suddenly stand in front of the mirror and start pulling your skin tighter around your face.” Anthea grabs the top of her neck with her whole hand and pushes it back to make her jawline and neck look sharper, and she added: “I don’t have a girlfriend of mine in my age group who doesn’t do that, and you go, oh, that would look nice.”

At the beginning of this year (2026), Anthea decided to take action and went to her local aesthetic clinic, Bodyvie in Richmond and asked for advice on the best new non-surgical treatments.

Why Anthea Turner Sought Non-Surgical Skin Rejuvenation

Why Anthea Turner Sought Non-Surgical Skin Rejuvenation

“I had done some research and looked into all the aesthetic possibilities and there are many, many out there, so I took some advice at Bodyvie and for my skin and age they recommended the Focus Dual by Lynton treatments. I wanted something that was safe, effective and very little downtime. They said they had got some amazing results for their clients with this system and that the results looked really natural, which was important to me because I really didn’t want to come out of this looking like I’d had work done on my face. It was a no-brainer really.”

Treatment Plan

For her treatment plan, Anthea and her clinician opted for a cautious, progressive strategy. “We decided that the best thing to do was slow and low,” she explained. “I don’t want to lose the plumpness that I already have in my face, that I’ve held on to. I wanted to primarily look after my skin. If you look after your skin, everything glows, everything looks great, and that’s the approach we went for, and I have got exactly what I wanted.”

Each session takes about an hour to complete. Before the procedure began, a numbing cream was applied to her face, ensuring the experience was comfortable. Addressing the pain factor, Anthea noted: “I don’t really think it hurts at all. You have numbing cream, so hardly feel anything. On a scale of one to ten, where does it come? Maybe a three, if that.”

The minimal recovery time was a crucial factor for the television star’s demanding schedule. “I have very little time in my life to have downtime, and so one of the things that I was looking for was something that had minimal downtime, and Focus Dual absolutely does,” Anthea shared. “I would say that if I had a procedure at 1 o’clock in the afternoon, by the next day, maybe I would look a little bit pink, but nothing that I couldn’t hide with make-up and go out."

She had six monthly full face and neck treatments which cost £500 per session, but several clinics in the UK offer a series of six treatments for less than £2,500, which Anthea views as a highly worthwhile investment in her confidence and appearance. She now intends to keep up with a Focus Dual maintenance treatment every three to four months.

The Results

The results have far exceeded her expectations, particularly in the areas that concerned her most. “The fact is that when you start using the Focus Dual not only do you get a much tighter jaw, you get a better quality of skin on your neck, and your neck has got very thin skin on it,” she said. “I’ve noticed people have said to me, ‘Oh, your skin looks good.’ and I go I've had Focus Dual and then they want to know more about it. And want that.”

Anthea was visibly amazed when looking at her before and after photographs for the first time. “Gosh, this is the first time I’ve seen these pictures. This is me eight months ago, and me now. My goodness me, I can see a difference. I definitely can. You see, again, you know, it’s the quality of the skin. Look after your skin. Really, really important.”

She also noted the positive impact on her facial structure. “Keeping my volume was actually very important to me. Tightening the skin on my whole face, it's made a difference to my apples and eyes. Gosh, that's a task. Well, I never.”

Looking back on her journey, she is thrilled she took the plunge and encourages others to commit to a full course of treatment rather than expecting instant miracles from a single session.

“I think that up until probably your mid to late 40s, you don’t really notice a huge amount. Everything seems to be going in the right direction, that’s okay. And then all of a sudden, as you approach 50 and beyond, you do notice changes,” she observed. “We are losing collagen. You don't really notice it for a while and then you really do. I would like to think, really, that what the Focus Dual has done for me, and because I committed to a course, and this is really, really important, and I impress upon my friends, if you’re going to do this, don’t waste your money having three and then go, ‘Oh no, I’m not going to have any more because I don’t think it’s doing anything.’ You do the course. And even when you’ve done the course, it carries on improving.”

She added emphatically: “Yeah. Oh, I do recommend Focus Dual to my friends. Most definitely.”

Anthea said “go to a clinic who has a Lynton machine, and you know that the training is going to be top-notch. You know that you are going to be well looked after and expectations will be managed.”

Anthea Turner had her Focus Dual treatments at the Bodyvie Clinic in Richmond, but these treatments are available across the UK.

What is Focus Dual?

Focus Dual offers a unique combination of two of the latest clinical technologies for non-surgical skin lifting, firming, and tightening of the face and body: Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling and High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). RF Microneedling delivers radiofrequency energy deep into the skin via ultra-fine needles, creating controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural healing process and boost collagen and elastin production.

This results in improved skin texture, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, and a tighter, more youthful appearance with minimal downtime.
