Lorna Jackson shows off the Journalist of the Year award, alongside MyFaceMyBody Founder Stephen Handisides.

Since starting as Editor of the UK’s largest aesthetic information website dedicated to demystifying the world of surgical and non-surgical cosmetic treatments in 2003, Lorna has become a well-known commentator on the aesthetic industry, with audiences encompassing the public, press and medical professionals.

Rated for her in-depth and historical knowledge of the sector, as well as her no-nonsense approach to getting to the facts of story, Lorna has also contributed articles to many trade journals and press articles over the years, as well as in-house blogs, articles and a monthly magazine. She is touted as literally having her finger on the pulse of the aesthetic industry, often reporting on relevant news as it breaks.

I’m very pleased and proud to win this award for Journalist of the Year, and I’m truly grateful for all the votes and testimonials that I received from my fellow aesthetic industry peers, which has meant that I secured the prize.

I have always aspired to writing quality, informative and accurate articles that will impart knowledge on the reader. As a non-medic I know that I can’t teach doctors and nurses authoritatively about the more clinical aspects of their work, so I aim to always get to the bottom or the ‘nitty gritty’ of a subject rather than being reliant on what marketing departments tell me. The feedback I get is that this is very valuable to those who read my articles and often make business decisions off the back of my findings. This award proves to me that I’m doing the right thing and I will continue to write content in this way”; said Lorna after the event.

Now in their third year, the MyFaceMyBody Awards, founded by Stephen Handisides, is the only consumer awards dedicated to the cosmetic, aesthetic and dental industry to recognise and reward brands for their product innovation and popularity. Clinics are also rewarded for exceptional experiences and outstanding service to their consumers. The 2014 awards were attended by 400 leading industry professionals, brands, journalists and celebrities. The awards are voted on by the consumer and feature a panel of experts that are all leaders within the health and beauty industry

In the run-up to the awards ceremony, many aesthetic industry professionals commented on Lorna’s work and her nomination for the Journalist of the Year award.

Her in-depth understanding of market trueness and insights provides a very valuable asset to the industry as a whole.

Emma Caston, Clinic Manager at Persona Cosmetic Medicine said; “Lorna is a superb journalist who absolutely deserves this accolade. Her knowledge of the industry is second to none, always current and very informative.
