Dr Mountford MBBS MBCAM qualified in London in 1985, where she initially worked as an anaesthetist before training as a cosmetic medical practitioner.

It’s that time of year again where lots of people start thinking about Coolsculpting as they get ready to go on holiday, or to wear summer clothes, simply to feel confident showing off more of their body.

In this Q&A, I want to talk about the things you should consider before CoolSculpting Cryolipolysis treatment, what is involved in it and what you should be looking out for when sourcing a clinic to have this procedure.

Coolsculpting is an Art

Ideally, you should seek a practitioner who is highly visual and very experienced in Coolsculpting and who can see how you are going to look and explain the whole process thoroughly to you and why they are looking at you in a certain way.

At my clinic, The Cosmetic Skin Clinic we assess you from every angle... we can work out a bespoke treatment plan according to what you want to try to achieve and the way we believe can give you the best results.

Things to consider before having a coolsculpt treatment

Forward Plan Your Coolsculpting Treatment

Plan your Coolsculpting as it does take some time and it may take a couple of months from when you had treatment before you see the optimum results.

Although it is likely you will see results within eight weeks depending on which areas you have treated, it is a good idea to start well in advance of going away so you can be sure the full results will be coming through in time for your holiday.

Managing expectation's with s Coolsculpt treatment

Have Realistic Expectations

I think it is very important to have realistic expectations and to have faith in your treating practitioner.

In our practice what we do is manage your expectations very carefully. The treatment is proven to be effective, its FDA cleared, but some areas, however, take a little longer to respond than others; for example, inner thighs and arms are fantastic areas to treat but take a little longer to come to their end result.

So we may suggest reviewing usually between eight to twelve weeks even though you will see some results before then. The abdomen and flanks respond quicker and you tend to see a good result by eight weeks.

To recap; when you first come for your assessment, your practitioner should talk to you about your expectations, how quickly these results will come through, and monitor your results and eventual outcome.
