Enerjet ™

Product summary

Enerjet™ is a clinically-proven, no-needle, dermal remodelling system that pneumatically introduces a jet of hyaluronic acid (HA) to remodel skin, repair scars and to lift facial tissue. It can be used on various areas of the face and body, including more delicate areas, such as around the eyes and mouth.

Enerjet is manufactured by the Israeli company PerfAction and distributed in the UK by Breit Aesthetics Ltd. It was launched into the UK in 2015.

It is aimed at providing dynamic lift to facial tissue to give a refreshed and more youthful look, whilst also being capable of treating more demanding problems, like acne scarring and stretch marks, all using a needle-less concept of transdermal pneumatic application of HA.

PerfAction note that EnerJet represents a breakthrough in treating the effects of ageing with a non-laser based skin remodelling solution, delivering predictable, immediate and long-lasting aesthetic results.

Technical specifications

The device uses their proprietary needle-free Jet Volumetric Remodelling™ (JVR). This delivers kinetic energy and a jet of hyaluronic acid via a tiny entry point in the outer layer of the skin, (the epidermis), which is up to 200 microns in size, leaving virtually no visible signs of entry. The company refer to the affect that the pneumatic jet has on the hyaluronic acid molecules as creating ‘nano-bullets’ which disperse into the deeper layers of the skin, (the dermis), to produce micro trauma and hydrate tissue. A proprietary HA option can be used with the device, or practitioners can choose to use a branded HA dermal filler product of choice.

How does it work?

The device uses the JVR technology to introduce, and laterally disperse, a diluted hyaluronic acid based dermal filler. The HA is delivered to immediately hydrate the tissues in order to improve the appearance of the skin in the short term. This is because hyaluronic acid helps to attract and retain moisture in the area. Enerjet also uses mechanical energy which creates a kinetic trauma within the skin tissues. This creates a controlled micro trauma which helps to stimulate new collagen production as a wound healing response by the body. This rejuvenates, thickens and lifts the skin structures for a more long term effect.

Following treatment, the skin appears immediately fuller, hydrated and rejuvenated due to the temporary effects of the HA, and as this subsides the healing phase has initiated the long-term remodelling action of increased collagen production.

Should be used by

Enerjet should be used by trained members of the medical profession, including doctors and nurses. It can also be provided by trained aestheticians.

What is it used to treat?

The Enerjet device is considered to be a safe and effective needle-less treatment for lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, stretch marks and surgical scarring.

It can be used to improve the skin’s appearance and reduce the signs of ageing on the backs of the hands, décolleté (décolletage), neck, cheeks, chin, forehead, and even in the most delicate areas, such as around the eyes and lips. Another application is for the non-surgical lift of the upper face.

Treatment is suitable for all skin types and can be performed all year round (tanning is not a concern).

How long does it last?

Most people report significant improvements in their skin thickness, firmness and tone around two to three days after treatment due to the action of the hyaluronic acid.

The long term remodelling results are expected to last between 12 and 18 months, and a follow-up treatment session is usually recommended at that point to maintain or top-up the results previously achieved.

Side effects & risks

Treatment is considered to be tolerable, with minimal downtime, and no bruising or peeling after the procedure.

A topical anaesthetic cream may be applied to the area to be treated beforehand for added comfort. During treatment, most people report a feeling of pressure, or a minor “impact”, whilst others feel nothing at all. Your practitioner will monitor your comfort.

The initial papules, or rash-like swelling on the skin’s surface appear immediately after treatment. This is where the tiny entry points for the jet stream are, and they will decrease up to three hours afterwards, leaving only some minor marks that can be concealed with make-up. This should resolve quickly thereafter.

Not to be used in

Treatment is suitable for all skin types and all areas of the body. As long as you are generally healthy, and don’t have any skin diseases or infections in the area treated, there are few medical reasons why you should not undergo this treatment.

Pregnant and breast feeding women will not be treated.

If you have had laser or a chemical peel treatment you will usually be advised to wait another month before embarking on an Enerjet treatment programme.

Treatment regime

The time taken for a treatment session will depend upon the size of the area and indication being treated, but most sessions last around 15 minutes.

The recommended treatment regime is 3 treatments spaced one month apart.

Cost of treatment

The cost of treatment depends on the area(s) being treated, the number of sessions required and the indication being targeted. For example, treatment prices can range from between £350 to £750 for treating the mid-face for a non-surgical face lift, or £600 for treating stretch marks.
