Professor David Sines is Provost at Buckinghamshire New University and an NHS professional advisor focusing on workforce strategy. Previously, he served as Pro Vice Chancellor & Executive Dean at the same university and held senior roles at London South Bank University and University of Ulster.
A Fellow of the RCN, he was awarded a CBE in 2010 for Services to Health Care. He chaired Health Education England’s Non-Surgical Cosmetic Interventions Framework (2015) and has been Independent Chair of the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) since 2016. Additionally, he chairs the Buckinghamshire Health and Social Care Academy and is a Trustee of The Burdett Nursing Trust.

Professor David Sines CBE was until recently Pro Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean and Professor of Community Health Care Nursing at the Faculty of Society and Health at Buckinghamshire New University and holds the position of Provost at the University.
He held previous roles as Executive Dean for the Faculty of Health & Social Care at London South Bank University and as Head of School of Health Sciences at the University of Ulster. David obtained his PhD in social policy from the University of Southampton in 1993 and has held four Secretary of State appointments, including appointments to the UKCC and NMC. He has been a Governor of three NHS Foundation Trusts in London. He held an Honorary Appointment with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as Associate Director of Nursing. He is a Fellow of the RCN and received a CBE in the 2010 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for ‘Services to Health Care’.
David was until recently a Non-Executive Director with the Central London NHS Community Healthcare Trust and as an Associate Non-Executive Director with Buckinghamshire NHS Hospitals Trust and currently chairs their respective Health and Social Care Academies. David is also an Emeritus Professor with Buckinghamshire New University and Provost for Health and Social Care.
David is currently appointed as a professional advisor within the NHS and works closely with primary and community care workforce strategy and transformation. David is a Trustee with The Burdett Nursing Trust. David has undertaken two previous periods of engagement with the previous Health Education GP Deanery in both NW London and acted as a fully functioning Associate Director for the GP Deanery at the University of London for a two-year period as part of this role.
David was Chair of the Health Education England Committee that produced the HEE (DHSC approved) Education and Training Framework for Non-Surgical Cosmetic interventions in 2015 and was subsequently appointed as Independent Chair of the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners in January 2016. David is also Chair of the Buckinghamshire Health and Social Care Academy.
