Answer: Good evening, Niall

I hope you are well.

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding skin, this is what we specialise in, and help patients with regularly.

The first step would be to get you in for an initial consultation with one of our doctors, so they are able to perform a thorough initial skin assessment on your skin, give a medical opinion on your condition and then prepare a tailored treatment plan for you. This includes a complimentary skin scanner analysis with our Observ machine. The skin consultation takes 1 full hour and is charged at £195 with Dr Anna. At the end of the consultation the doctor will provide you with a written treatment report alongside prices and treatments recommended. Please, if you would like to reply to us feel free to do it (our contact details can be found on our clinic profile) as I won't be able to reply on this platform again.

Dr Anna our medical director is in clinic Monday – Friday 9:00-5:30. When would be a suitable date for you?

I look forward to hearing from you,

Best wishes,
Lavinia

Answer: Hello Niall

It’s not possible to give you an answer without a face to face consultation and in-depth history of your rosacea experience and triggers. The best laser treatment for rosacea depends on the type and severity of your rosacea and your skin’s characteristics. Commonly recommended laser treatments include:

1. Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL)

• How It Works: PDL targets blood vessels by delivering light that is absorbed by hemoglobin, causing the blood vessels to collapse and fade.
• Best For: Redness, visible blood vessels (telangiectasia), and flushing.
• Downtime: Minimal to moderate, depending on the intensity.

2. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

• How It Works: IPL emits broad-spectrum light that targets red and brown pigments, reducing redness and uneven skin tone.
• Best For: Diffuse redness, flushing, and mild blood vessels.
• Downtime: Minimal; some mild redness or swelling may occur.

3. Nd:YAG Laser

• How It Works: A deeper-penetrating laser that targets larger, deeper blood vessels.
• Best For: Moderate to severe rosacea with prominent blood vessels.
• Downtime: Minimal to moderate.

4. KTP Laser

• How It Works: This laser targets smaller blood vessels close to the skin’s surface.
• Best For: Small, visible blood vessels and mild redness.
• Downtime: Typically minimal.

Key Considerations:

• Skin Type: Some lasers may not be suitable for darker skin tones due to the risk of pigmentation changes.
• Severity: The type of rosacea (erythematotelangiectatic vs. papulopustular) will influence the treatment choice.
• Number of Sessions: Multiple sessions (usually 3-5) are often required for optimal results.
• Maintenance: Rosacea is a chronic condition, so periodic maintenance treatments may be necessary.

Additional Recommendations:

• Combination Treatments: Sometimes, combining laser therapy with topical treatments is essential for good results.
• Skincare Routine: Use gentle, non-irritating skincare products and always wear broad-spectrum sunscreen.

A consultation with an experienced health care practioner or laser specialist is essential to determine the most suitable treatment for your specific needs.

Kind regards
Dr Victoria
