The JCCP announces a series of podcasts and events following the Government’s Response to licensing of the sector.

In August 2025, the UK Government took a decisive step towards tackling the “Wild West” of unsafe cosmetic practice with its official response to the consultation on licensing non-surgical cosmetic procedures. Following almost 12,000 responses, the Department of Health and Social Care confirmed that only qualified healthcare professionals will be permitted to perform the highest-risk procedures, such as non-surgical Brazilian Butt Lifts, in Care Quality Commission (CQC)-registered premises. What it deemed to be lower-risk treatments – including botulinum toxin and dermal fillers – will also fall under new local authority licensing, to make sure all practitioners meet rigorous safety, training, and insurance standards.

The Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) has responded to the Government’s latest measures to regulate non-surgical cosmetic procedures, with new events, resources and podcasts designed to keep practitioners informed and engaged.

CCR Round Table: Shaping the Future
As the sector prepares for the next stage of consultation and parliamentary scrutiny, the JCCP is creating opportunities for practitioners to hear from experts first-hand. At CCR 2025, an invite-only round table will take place on Friday, September 26, from 9:30–10:30am, chaired by Professor David Sines CBE, Executive Chair of the JCCP, alongside Dr Catherine Fairris, Dr Clare Kiely, and consultant plastic surgeon Ms Nora Nugent. This session will provide registrants with a chance to explore what the new licensing regime will mean in practice. Attendance requires CCR registration and a separate booking as a JCCP registrant.

Webinars and interactive learning
JCCP Key Opinion Leader Julie Scott will host an upcoming webinar in partnership with Amy Bird (Chair of BAMAN) and Alexandra Mills (Vice-Chair of BAMAN). Practitioners are invited to submit questions in advance, ensuring the session reflects real-world concerns about professional standards, patient safety, and the role of education in safeguarding public health. Podcasts: Collaborating for Safer Aesthetics
The JCCP podcast series, Collaborating for Safer Aesthetics, is fast becoming an essential listening resource. Recent episodes include a joint discussion with BAHRS on “Who Makes the Cut?” and a two-part series with Environmental Health. In a special episode, “Towards Safer Practice: David Sines on the DHSC’s First Steps in Cosmetic Regulation”, Professor Sines unpacks the Government’s response, what it means for practitioners and patients, and the next steps in shaping regulation.

With regulation on the horizon, engagement is crucial. The JCCP encourages all practitioners to stay informed, participate in consultation opportunities, and make use of the Council’s events, webinars, and podcasts. Together, the sector can move towards a safer, more accountable future for aesthetics – one where public trust and professional integrity are at the heart of practice.
