that time of year when the scales tip between over-indulgence at Christmas and a flurry of New Year’s resolutions to get fit, lose weight and be healthier. The beginning of a new year is an incentive for many of us to make some dramatic changes to improve our wellbeing. In fact, for the third year in a row, health and fitness came top of the list of Britons’ resolutions, according to a YouGov poll. Resolutions to do more exercise or improve fitness topped the list (49%), followed by 41% saying they wanted to improve their diet and 40% saying they wanted to lose weight (34% of men and 44% of women). However, even though most of us begin the new year raring to go, the majority of us lose our resolve by mid-February. According to behavioural scientists, this is because we tend to set targets that are too big and too vague. As such many people need to be supported to reach these goals, and this is where aesthetic clinics come in.
