CPD Article: From Consultation to Transformation

Sharron Gordon shares a client’s journey with NeoGen Plasma and combination skin rejuvenation

When clients seek aesthetic treatments, they often bring more than just surface-level concerns, they share insecurities, frustrations, and hopes for change. Our clinics become a place of trust, where clients open up about how they feel in their own skin and it becomes part of our routine practice to listen and to formulate a plan for their care. For one such client, the journey toward renewed confidence began with a simple and common desire: to feel better about the texture, tone, and tightness of her skin. Her eye area was a particular focus.

The first step: A holistic, listening-based consultation

When this client first arrived at the clinic, she expressed dissatisfaction with several aspects of her skin. Like many clients, she wasn’t seeking drastic change – she wanted to look fresher, more vibrant, and to feel more like herself.

During her consultation, the focus was not only on what she wanted to treat, but also why those changes mattered to her.  A consultation is a valuable opportunity to understand someone’s story, assess the skin in detail, and collaborate with her on a plan that addressed her concerns, utilising the depth of skills you hold as a practitioner should not be a case of delivering a vending machine model of care with a ‘one-size-fits-all solution’, but in depth skills enable you to optimise a combination of technologies tailored just for her.
Together, a plan was curated to improve the uneven texture, dull tone, lift and tighten around her eye area.

Building a multi-modal treatment plan

The client’s case was ideal for a combination therapy approach. Because her concerns spanned across several skin dimensions – tone, texture, and laxity. After a detailed assessment, a targeted plan was developed using three synergistic technologies with the foundations in optimised and targeted skincare. This client was treated with skincare curated from AlumierMD.

Technologies utilised

This comprehensive approach meant each modality supported the others, with results compounding over time to achieve a fresher and more vibrant complexion.

What is NeoGen Plasma and why was it chosen?

Unlike laser treatments, NeoGen Plasma uses nitrogen plasma energy to deliver controlled thermal stimulation across its layers – from the epidermis down to the deeper dermal layers. It is also indicated for the delicate areas like around the eyes, where traditional devices can often not be used. The treatment triggers a natural regeneration process that stimulates collagen and elastin production, leading to long-term tightening and skin smoothing.

For this client, NeoGen was particularly beneficial for targeting crepiness and fine lines around the upper and lower eyelids, areas which she felt made her look tired the most.

Treatment experience and recovery

Technologies were combined within one appointment where appropriate.  Every stage of the plan was monitored and adjusted if this was felt to be beneficial.  Appointments were spaced out over several months to allow for healing and collagen remodelling. This allowed for cumulative improvement with minimal disruption to daily life.

Results that speak for themselves

There is no greater joy than a truly happy client, both physically and emotionally. The client experienced:

She was delighted with the results, describing her skin as feeling “fresher, firmer, and more alive.” Beyond the visual improvement, she noted, “Loving applying eye makeup again”

Why the consultation is the cornerstone

This case illustrates why a thoughtful consultation process is essential in medical aesthetics. By taking time to listen holistically – to understand not only the physical issues but the emotional drivers behind them – the clinic was able to craft a treatment pathway that made the client feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Too often, clients are offered isolated solutions without considering how different technologies can be used together for better results. In this case, the synergy between IPL, HIFU, and NeoGen Plasma delivered results far greater than any single modality could have achieved alone.

Final thoughts: Science meets personalisation

As aesthetic technologies continue to advance, the ability to personalise treatment plans becomes more important than ever. Devices offer powerful outcomes, but only when used within a thoughtful, client-centred framework.

This client’s journey is a reminder that aesthetic medicine is not just about devices or techniques – it’s about people. It’s about listening with empathy, treating with precision, and delivering results that reflect who the client is and how they want to feel in their own skin.
