Mr Nicholas Morris, Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician

Gynaecologists in London. As an NHS Consultant he was a pioneer of Women’s Health in North London and introduced a birthing pool, a baby bonding clinic and a clinic for women who had undergone female genital mutilation. In 2004, he was awarded the ODA’s prize for mentoring junior doctors.

 

Nicholas Morris qualified from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School in 1984. He trained in London as a junior doctor, and worked in the major London Teaching Hospitals.

 

Nicholas was awarded the WellBeing Training Fellowship in 1993 for his research on Hypertension in Pregnancy. He was subsequently was appointed a Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Cambridge University, where he started research into genetic mechanisms and high blood pressure in pregnancy.

 

He was appointed an NHS Consultant in 1996 at Central Middlesex Hospital, and was a Senior Clinical Research Fellow at Imperial College.  He has been an active researcher, and has been awarded grants from the British Heart Foundation and the Department of Health. He is widely published and is a popular speaker on the lecture circuit. He currently runs the society of independent Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and prior to this the Consultant Lecture programme at the Portland Hospital. He has published over 50 scientific papers relating to obstetric care, and thrombosis risk in pregnancy, and female genital mutilation.

 

Nicholas Morris was made a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1991, and received the Fellowship in 2007. He is also a Member of the Expert Witnesses Institute.

 

Nicholas Morris is now a fully private Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. He consults at the Portland and Wellington Hospitals. He also consults at the Wellington Golders Green and the Cadogan Clinic.

 

Nicholas Morris was born into a Medical Family in North London. His entire family are doctors! His father was Norman Morris, the Obstetrician who pioneered a more humane approach to obstetric practice. He has followed in his father’s footsteps and is passionate about natural childbirth and birth without fear.

 

Nicholas is married to Veronica, a cosmetic dentist, and they have 2 children. Mr Morris enjoys playing tennis, the theatre and music. He is a Fellow of the Medical Society of London, and a member of the Chelsea Clinical Society. He is currently chairman of SIGO, the Society of Independent Gynaecologists and Obstetricians.
