It is very important that you follow the advice of your practitioner carefully after a facial implant to help to improve the benefit of the procedure and reduce the risk of complications or side effects.
Post-treatment advice may include:
<ul><li>using mild painkillers, such as paracetamol, if required;</li><li>patients with stitches inside their mouths are sometimes placed on a liquid diet for several days until there is enough healing for food particles to come in contact with the stitches safely without fear of infection. Your surgeon will instruct you about dental hygiene, eating, and any restrictions to your activities after surgery;</li><li>returning to have stitches removed after 7 – 10 days if they are not dissolvable;</li><li>sleeping with your head propped up on pillows to help reduce swelling, and wearing a support brace while you sleep. This will allow your tissues and implant to heal in the best position and prevent the implant shifting in the first few weeks;</li><li>being careful not to raise the blood pressure for at least 3 weeks as this could cause internal bleeding at your treatment area. Do not participate in contact sports for at least 6 – 8 weeks, although ask your surgeon what he recommends specifically for you;</li><li>contacting your practitioner immediately if you notice any signs of infection or an increase in pain. </li></ul>
