The decolletage or décolleté is derived from the French for exposing the neck and refers to a low neckline on clothing and also the area on a woman from the neck down towards the cleavage. This area of skin is often left exposed by modern clothing fashions and means that this already delicate area of skin is prone to ageing due to sun exposure. Skin in the decolletage can become thin and creepy from continual tanning over the years, as well as pigmented with sun damaged spots or freckles and wrinkles particularly near the breast and cleavage area. Many of the treatment options used to treat facial ageing can also be applied to improve skin texture, pigmentation, lines and wrinkles and skin tightness in the decolletage.
