The Surgiderm® range, manufactured by Corneal Group, (now part of Allergan) is based on their patented cross-linking process called “3D Hyaluronic Acid Matrix Technology”, which is claimed to allow for a tighter, more uniform, and greater number of cross-link structures – allowing greater resistance to degradation, meaning that it claims to last longer than other hyaluronic based fillers.
Within the Surgiderm® range is a product specifically promoted for mesotherapy, marketed as “mesolift” – called Surgilift® Plus. It is designed to replenish the hyaluronic acid lost through ageing, hence hydrating the skin and improving its elasticity and tone.
This treatment is recommended for:
Non animal stabilized hyaluronic acid.
By bacterial fermentation from streptococci bacteria.
No.
Hyaluronic acid is completely broken down within the skin over a period of months, eventually leaving no trace of the filler.
Medical device.
Trained members of the medical profession only
Surgilift® Plus is a non cross-linked hyaluronic acid targeted at a broad range of treatment areas including the face, neck, décolletage (the area between the neck and breasts) and hands. It is designed for injection into the superficial dermis by various different techniques, such as lots of small injections using a puncture technique (either manually by the practitioner or using a device called a meso-gun), or the placement of the substance in lines using a linear threading or cross hatching technique; (see illustrations). The last two techniques are mainly used in areas of the face where there are fine lines, such as crow’s feet, smile lines or smoker lines by the mouth, which will improve with hydration.
Surgilift® Plus can also be used in conjunction with other deeper fillers from the Surgiderm® range.
Individuals with a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid.
Pregnancy and breast feeding.
This depends upon the degree of correction required, your age and lifestyle as well as the correct placement of the product by a practitioner.
Generally, several sessions a few weeks apart, will be required to achieve the desired effect, depending on the condition of your skin. Your practitioner will recommend a maintenance schedule for your particular needs, with repeat treatments normally required every 3 to 6 months.
Transient erythema (redness), swelling, possible discomfort at the implant site, this usually resolves spontaneously or within one or two days after injection. Any persistent reaction must be reported to your practitioner.
Localised reactions thought to be of a hypersensitivity nature have been reported in about 1 in every 2000 treated patients. Redness, tenderness and rarely acneform papules may occur.
In addition in rare cases (in less than 1 in 15,000 treatments) granuloma, superficial necrosis and urticaria have been reported.
If the puncture technique is used, the injection points may be visible for 2 – 3 days post-injection.
This depends on area treated and how much is required, and the practitioner doing the treatment, but ranges are in the region of: £tbc per treatment.
