Update: Fziomed withdrew UK salesforce support and marketing for Laresse during 2008 - although it may still be available through some distributors and clinics in the UK.
FzioMed, a U.S.-based medical device company launched its Laresse™ dermal filler product in the UK & Europe in June 2006. As a result, you may only come across a few practitioners using this product currently.
Laresse™ is used for the correction of facial soft tissue defects such as wrinkles and lines caused by sun exposure, ageing and other factors; (e.g. naso-labial or nose-to-mouth lines etc.).
Combination of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and polyethylene oxide (PEO).
Laresse™ is an innovative new filler gel and is composed of two well-studied, absorbable medical polymers called carboxymethylcellulose and polyethylene oxide.
These components have a long safety history in FzioMed’s surgery products, as well as in cosmetics, nutritional products and FDA-approved pharmaceuticals.
Laresse™ is non-bacterial and non-animal based which the manufacturers claim makes it less likely to cause allergic reactions such as redness, swelling, tenderness and itching. It is also not chemically cross-linked like some hyaluronic acid based filler products, again removing potential allergy and illness causing compounds.
And finally, it is non-particulate, meaning that it doesn’t contain micro-particles like hyaluronic acid fillers do, but is instead an ultra smooth gel, making it both easy for the practitioner to inject and producing a more pleasing final result, according to the manufacturer, due to the non-clogging, pure and even flow of the gel.
Laresse™ is based on FzioMed’s patented science, which is already used in surgical products.
The Laresse™ gel is composed of pure, absorbable medical polymers that have a long history of safe use in pharmaceutical, medical device, and nutritional products.
No allergy test needed.
Laresse ™ is long lasting but is not permanent.
Laresse ™ has been awarded a CE Mark approving it for sale in the European Union.
It is not currently available in the USA, although plans for a U.S. clinical trial are underway.
Trained members of the medical profession only.
Laresse ™ is s upplied in a 1ml syringe with 2 fine 30gauge needles.
Laresse™ is intended for the correction of facial soft tissue contour deficiencies such as wrinkles and nasolabial folds (nose-to-mouth lines).
Clinical results show that duration of effect is comparable to leading hyaluronic acid fillers at 1, 3 and 6 months.
Long term data is not available yet as the product was only recently launched.
Side effects reported directly to us include marked pigmentation following injection into the tear trough region in one female case.
This depends on the area treated and how much is required, and the practitioner doing the treatment, but prices range from £200 - £300 per syringe .
