Cosmetic products can temporarily conceal the discolouration, but they do not affect the underlying condition or its progression. Using makeup or self-tanner over an active or unresolved area of toasted skin syndrome may make early monitoring more difficult, as it can obscure changes in the rash that would otherwise be visible. If concealment is a priority, it is advisable to ensure the heat source has been removed and the skin is being monitored regularly so that any concerning changes are not missed.
