Yes. Although the condition is more commonly reported in women, men can and do develop it. The lower reported prevalence in men is generally attributed to differences in heat use habits rather than any biological difference in skin vulnerability. Men who regularly use heating pads for back or muscle pain, work in warm occupational environments, or use laptops for extended periods on their laps carry the same underlying risk. The condition does not discriminate by sex — it reflects the pattern and duration of heat exposure.
