Information collected by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) for 2006
Main Information
AACS annually publishes its Procedural Census representing the cosmetic procedures performed by AACS members in the past year.
2007 AMERICAN ACADEMY OF COSMETIC SURGERY (AACS) PROCEDURAL CENSUS KEY FINDINGS
The estimated total number of patients treated by all AACS member practices in 2006 is just over
1.2 million
patients (1,259,534). Approximately 79% of patients treated were female (993,984) and 21% were male (265,550).
The most commonly offered invasive cosmetic surgery procedures at AACS member practices in 2006 were
liposuction
(76.2%),
blepharoplasty
(68.4%),
facelift
(59.7%),
forehead lift
(58.3%), and
lip implant
(51.9%).
The most commonly offered non-invasive cosmetic surgery procedures at AACS member practices in 2006 were
botox
(93.7%),
restylane/hylaform
(91.7%),
chemical peels
(80.1%),
laser resurfacing
(68.9%), and
microdermabrasion
(65.0%).
