Main Information
AACS annually publishes its Procedural Census representing the cosmetic procedures performed by AACS members in the past year.
2007 AMERICAN ACADEMY OF COSMETIC SURGERY (AACS) PROCEDURAL CENSUS KEY FINDINGS
The estimated total number of patients treated by all AACS member practices in 2007 is about
1.3 million
patients (1,286,553). Approximately 80% of patients treated were female (1,023,290) and 20% were male (262,929).
The most commonly offered invasive cosmetic surgery procedures at AACS member practices in 2007 were
liposuction
(76.4%),
blepharoplasty
(56.1%),
facelift
(49.4%),
sclerotherapy
(47.3%), and
abdominoplasty
(44.3%).
The most commonly offered non-invasive cosmetic surgery procedures at AACS member practices in 2007 were
Botox®
(97.1%),
Restylane®/Hylaform®
(88.0%),
chemical peels
(78.1%),
laser hair removal
(69.4%) and
laser resurfacing
(65.3%).
