If you are thinking about starting your filler journey you may have heard conflicting stories about how long it will last some people say they noticed their filler disappear quickly whilst others experience their filler lasts for much longer than expected.
We spoke to Dr Ahmed El Muntasar on behalf of global medical aesthetics company Sinclair to get the lowdown on filler longevity…
"The longevity of the filler depends on a variety of different factors:
Location of filler: A general rule of thumb the more you move the area, the quicker you break down the filler. For example, lip filler lasts 6 to 12 months, whereas chin or jawline filler can last for up to 2 years as this is because you move your lips a lot more than you move the bone in your chin.
Type of filler you are using: This means the cross-linking of the molecules and the quality of the dermal filler
Lifestyle factors: Smoking, exercise, diet etc’
Dr Ahmed shared that one of his favourite filler brands to use for high-performance and long-lasting results…
‘MaiLi, particularly because of the OxiFree Technology TM, it lasts SO much longer compared to other competitors. I find that patients are extremely happy with their results as they don’t need to come back as often. Another benefit is that for areas that would usually require a lot of filler like jawline and chin, I’m not having to use as many mls, patients also like this as using less product means it is financially better for them. using less product also meaning less chance of complications.’
