The age-old saying "prevention is better than cure" has long influenced modern healthcare principles since the 1500s – but what does this mean for our skin?
While there is much debate as to the ‘right age’ for active skincare and preventative treatments, the consensus is that it is never too early to do right by your skin and take care of it. Integrating non-surgical treatments into your skincare routine from your 20s can be an excellent way to focus on prevention without opting for highly invasive treatments.
A 2024 Hamilton Fraser study showed that ‘prejuvenation’ was a popular trend in the beauty and aesthetics industry, with 58.2% of 300 practitioners reporting having younger patients regularly requesting such treatments. Julie Scott, Julie Scott RGN NIP, Profhilo trainer says:
“Prejuvenation is the path to preserving the vitality and resilience of skin, it's about a commitment to lifelong skin health and I truly feel that adopting proactive skincare regime provides is the foundation for a healthy skin journey.”
While ageing is nothing to fear, playing the long game with our skin means we’ll reap the rewards later in life.
