<p>As with any surgical procedure, Vaser Lipo patients will have post-operative swelling, bruising, and numbness.  For most, these effects begin to subside after a few weeks, but for some, symptoms can persist for several months, and make patients feel worried.  Although swelling, bruising, or numbness can persist significantly longer than the average, for most cases this is not a cause for concern.</p><p>For those who have recently had liposuction, or are considering it, this article presents statistics on post-operative swelling, bruising, and numbness based on compiled clinical data for a sample of 129 Vaser procedures, and hopefully will be a useful and reassuring guide for those who may have concerns.</p><p>Graph1 illustrates the statistics for swelling to subside after Vaser Lipo.  The vertical bars represent the percentage of patients whose swelling subsides by the days shown beneath them on the horizontal axis.  The most common case is 16 days, and this occurred for 40% of patients in the study.  The graph also shows that 2% of patients needed as many as 44 days (more than six weeks) before their swelling subsided.  In contrast, 2% required only four days to see a reduction in swelling.</p><p align="center">Graph1 (Swelling Stats for Vaser Lipo): </p><p><table border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" width="510" align="center" height="355"><tbody><tr><td><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.dralexchambers.co.uk/images/stories/swelling-histogram.png" width="500" height="344" /></td></tr></tbody></table></p><p>Graph2 shows the same data as in Graph1, but as a cumulative percentage.  It shows that half of all patients need 14 days to recover from swelling, but to achieve a level of 90% required up to 24 days.  This says that 13 of the 129 patients from this study needed more than 3.5 weeks for swelling to subside.  The data shows that significant numbers of patients do have extended periods of swelling after their Vaser procedure.</p><p align="center">Graph2 (Vaser Liposuction Swelling Stats): </p><p><table border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" width="510" align="center" height="355"><tbody><tr><td><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.dralexchambers.co.uk/images/stories/swelling-cum.png" width="500" height="344" /></td></tr></tbody></table></p><p>Graph3 presents the figures for Vaser Lipo bruising to subside. 16 days was the most common, 30% of all patients, and for one person in the study 36 days was required.</p><p align="center">Graph3 (Vaser Bruising Stats): </p><p><table border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" width="510" align="center" height="355"><tbody><tr><td><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.dralexchambers.co.uk/images/stories/bruising-hist.png" width="500" height="342" /></td></tr></tbody></table></p><p>Graph4 illustrates that half of the study patients saw bruising diminish after 11 days, but that 16 days were needed to achieve a level of 90%.</p><p align="center">Graph4 (Vaser Lipo Bruising Stats): </p><p><table border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" width="510" align="center" height="355"><tbody><tr><td><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.dralexchambers.co.uk/images/stories/bruising-cum.png" width="500" height="342" /></td></tr></tbody></table></p><p>Graph5 shows the stats for numbness to subside.  16 days was the most common duration, but for some numbness persisted up to 32 days after their procedure.</p><p align="center">Graph5 (Vaser Liposuction Numbness Stats): </p><p><table border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" width="510" align="center" height="355"><tbody><tr><td><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.dralexchambers.co.uk/images/stories/numbness-hist.png" width="500" height="346" /></td></tr></tbody></table></p><p>The final graph illustrates that half of all patients were over numbness after 16 days, while 90% needed up to 30 days.</p><p align="center">Graph6 (Vaser Numbness Stats): </p><p><table border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" width="510" align="center" height="355"><tbody><tr><td><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.dralexchambers.co.uk/images/stories/numbness-cum.png" width="500" height="346" /></td></tr></tbody></table></p><p>In summary, a surgical procedure such as Vaser liposuction causes trauma to the body.  This study shows that the resulting duration for swelling, bruising, and numbness can be quite variable.  Indeed, the histograms and cumulative distributions show that there are significant differences between individuals, and that long durations for these to subside are not uncommon.
