In a world dominated by technology and where the iPhone is king, it was only a matter of time before plastic surgery got the virtual treatment. This week we were introduced to the iAugment, the latest Photoshop-style app that gives users instantly bigger breasts.
The free app, available to download from iTunes is intended for women who are considering cosmetic enhancement; however, something tells me this app will attract quite a few male users too!
iAugument is the creation of US plastic surgeon Elizabeth A. Kinsley, t he first doctor to introduce 3D imaging technology to give women a more realistic idea of how they’ll look after breast augmentation. Dr Kinsley says “you can show your friends, your boyfriend or your husband and say ‘what do you think?’” Hmmm... I wonder what the answer to that would be?!
Aside from the entertainment factor of the app, the technology is a useful tool for allowing users to gain more insight into the results of aesthetic surgery. Using a photo and a few clicks of the cursor, users can chose from 17 different virtual implant sizes ranging from 210cc to 690cc. If you like the results the app can also point you to your nearest approved aesthetic surgeon. If you’re not happy with your new look you just shake the phone to remove the implants. Simple.
The iAugment joins a number of virtual enhancement simulation and modification apps including iSurgeon, MyBreastAug and iLipo. The range of virtual procedures includes breast augmentation, rhinoplasty and abdominoplasty, amongst others, and allows users to compare the before and after photo simultaneously.
Whether you’re seriously considering cosmetic enhancement or just intrigued by this, I’m sure it’s going to make a lot of men women very happy!
