Is it worth getting a non-surgical nose job?
For many, the appeal of non-surgical rhinoplasty lies in its immediate results, minimal downtime, and reversibility. There may well be a bit of swelling for 48 hours or so but it’s nothing compared to that of surgery. It offers a way to test drive changes to your appearance before committing to a permanent surgical alterations, or potentially avoiding the surgical route altogether. However, it's important to have realistic expectations and understand that not every nose concern can be corrected non-surgically.
How long does a Non-Surgical Nose Job last?
The duration of a non-surgical rhinoplasty result depends on a few things including the type of filler used, the metabolism of the patient and other lifestyle factors such as exercising, smoking and drug use, but typically ranges from 6 to 18 months. Following this period, the fillers naturally dissolve, and the nose returns to its original shape unless touch-ups are performed.
Who is a good candidate for a non-surgical nose job?
Ideal candidates are those seeking to improve the aesthetic appearance of their nose with minor to moderate adjustments. Patients who will likely get the best results will have a dorsal hump (lump on the back of the nose) or a drooping nasal tip. A non-surgical nose job can correct asymmetry to a certain extent but cannot dramatically straighten a crooked nose.
Can a Non-surgical Rhinoplasty go wrong?
As with any aesthetic procedure, there are risks involved. Improper injection techniques can lead to issues such as asymmetry, lumps, or more serious complications if not performed by an experienced practitioner. Choosing a reputable and skilled professional is paramount to minimise risks.
Can I go blind from Nose Filler?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a specialist skill which requires a lot of experience to perform correctly. The blood vessels in the region of the nose are very small and communicate with other vessels in the face, including the central retinal artery which supplies the retina. If filler theoretically travels through this artery it can lead to a blockage and deprive the retina of blood supply which could lead to loss of sight.
This has been reported as a complication but with proper injection technique, respect for anatomy, knowledge of where these blood vessels are and the ability to dissolve and reverse filler with hyaluronidase (which requires a prescriber to administer) the risk of this is incredibly low.
Safety is our top priority at Dr Ed Robinson Aesthetics. Dr Robinson regularly contributes to the press as an advocate of patient safety and improving regulation in the aesthetics industry.
