When Dr. Tapan Patel of Harley Street, described the Tixel device as “a waffle iron for your crow’s feet,” I was intrigued - and admittedly apprehensive. But curiosity got the better of me, and I found myself at the PHI Clinic, ready to experience this wrinkle-blasting treatment.
The Tixel uses 81 tiny titanium rods safely heated to 400°C to deliver a light, controlled burn to the skin. This might sound terrifying, but the goal is simple: stimulate collagen and elastin production to rejuvenate and tighten fragile skin, especially around the eyes. With numbing cream applied beforehand, the discomfort - while noticeable - was manageable.
Post-treatment, my skin looked like I’d worn a pink eye mask, with a grid of tiny unnoticeable burn marks. Within days, the puffiness subsided, and over the following weeks, the results emerged: smoother, firmer skin with softer crow’s feet and lighter eyelid hooding.
While it’s not a completely painless process, the Tixel delivers visible results with minimal downtime - an elegant, if intense, option for non-surgical skin rejuvenation. For best results, three sessions spaced a month apart are recommended.
Would I do it again? Absolutely - if only for the joy of seeing that fresh, firm glow.
