Why Does the Neck Age Faster?
The neck often shows signs of ageing before the face due to it being naturally thinner skin in that area. As we age, the skin loses its natural proteins- collagen and elastin, both of which help to maintain the skin’s firmness and resilience. As these proteins decline, the neck becomes more susceptible to wrinkles and sagging.
The platysma muscle, which stretches from the jawline to the chest also tightens and loses flexibility with age, creating a downward pull that contributes to the appearance of “turkey neck” and visible bands across the neck.
