The simple answer is of course hormonal changes and, in particular, the rapid decline in estrogen production. This hormone is key to skin health and vitality and with reduced levels, it impacts the skin in a multitude of ways.
Wrinkles & Ageing
– Estrogen is a key component in the production of collagen and without it our collagen production rapidly declines. Collagen and elastin are the building blocks of the skin, keeping it tight, plump and healthy with less wrinkles.
Dehydration
– Hyaluronic acid is produced within the skin and is a natural hydrator. Again Estrogen plays a vital role in this process so reduced levels lead to dryness and dehydration which increases wrinkle production.
