How do wrinkles develop with age?
If you’re under 25, it’s likely that you don’t have any wrinkles at all. Yes, you may have a couple of fine lines when you smile or frown – known as ‘dynamic’ wrinkles – but these probably won’t cause you too much bother.
From the age of 25, however, your collagen production will start to decline. This means that more wrinkles will start to appear and become ‘static’ in nature, meaning they’re still visible even when you’re not smiling or frowning.
As you age, both dynamic and static lines will gradually become more noticeable. When you enter perimenopause – usually in your 40s or 50s – your collagen levels will drastically decline, leading to significant wrinkling, along with dry and saggy-looking skin.
