As we get older, our collagen and elastin fibres become thinner and looser, as does our skin. This means that the skin on our faces in particular can become lax, which eventually causes sagging and wrinkles.
From as early as our twenties, our skin cell turnover also decreases, which can make our skin look dull without help from chemical exfoliating products. Some people around this age realise that their skin isn’t wrinkled as such, it’s just dehydrated but this can lead to the signs of ageing becoming worse further down the line.
Making sure that your skin gets enough hydration will also help it in the long run. Sadly, this doesn’t stop collagen loss with age from being a very real concern.
