This procedure works to remove the thin layers of damaged surface skin. The treatment takes about 40 minutes to execute, depending on the number of coats of active peel solution to be applied to determine the necessary planned outcome. With a healing time of 7-11 days, the ZO Controlled Depth Peel treatment offers a safe method of achieving radical skin restoration results, with comparable recovery time equal to alternative deep ablative and non-ablative laser treatments.
And the Results? A skin rejuvenated, younger-looking, displaying a radiance and glow with a soft and smooth touch and feel and of course a skin that is tighter and firmer.
Generally, TCA works by coagulating epidermal and dermal proteins and can be used for both epidermal and dermal peels depending on the strength of the TCA solution and the number of layers applied. Repeated application of TCA layers during the procedure causes the peel to penetrate more deeply as the TCA coagulates more protein. About three days after the application of the TCA peel the affected cells in each layer that is reached by the acid will peel off as sheets. The TCA is self-neutralizing following interaction with skin proteins and does not need to be neutralized. The TCA penetration is therefore predictable and the depth of penetration is fully controlled by the practitioner.
TCA has been proven over the last three decades as the most popular peel solution for superficial, medium, and deep chemical peels.
The ZO® Skin Health Controlled Depth Peel uses a fixed volume approach to the TCA solution termed as coat system. The coat system ensures safe and controlled application of the TCA solution.
When a fixed concentration of TCA is combined with the blue base dye, The ZO Controlled Depth Peel penetrates the skin and forms frost at a slower rate than other types of TCA Peel. In this way, the practitioner can interpret the specific signs and be assured of the actual depth of penetration of the TCA. When the desired planned depth in the skin is reached the practitioner simply stops further application and the TCA penetration is restricted to the depth reached. This unique feature of the ZO® Skin Health Controlled Depth Peel is the reason for its excellent safety record.
More than any other chemical peel solution, TCA is by far the most researched, trusted, and best-understood chemical peel solution to date. The blue base with which the TCA solution is blended during the procedure is specially developed and contains anti-inflammatories, anti-histamines, and anti-oxidants to enhance the effects of the TCA solution.
