On the whole, sclerotherapy is incredibly safe and will not be advised if your practitioner does not feel this will be beneficial to you.
Although risks are minimal, temporary side effects may include redness, itching, bruising or welts. These things will usually subside within a few weeks.
Am I Suitable For Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy for spider veins will only be performed following a thorough pre-treatment consultation and skin analysis. If your medical history precludes you from treatment, your practitioner will be happy to offer an alternative.
Once you embark on your treatment journey, you should be aware that it may take multiple sessions to achieve your desired outcomes. In most instances, patients should wear compression tights or stockings to aid results and will be given comprehensive aftercare advice. It is also entirely normal for the positive effects of sclerotherapy for spider veins to become visible after a period of 12 weeks.
